D2split

Due to restricted board geometry HDDD A2 v1.2 doesn't have pass-through port, which limits it's usage in a daisy chain as a terminal device only. This is where the cable adapter D2split comes to help, removing the limitation. It is an accessory for HDDD A2 v1.2 in the form of cables with DB19 at one end and IDC20 at the other, with a small board in the middle featuring pass-through port.
The design of D2split is dictated by it's function. Board dimensions are shaped by the DB19 female connector in the middle, and the ribbon cables are crimped to 20-pin connectors soldered to the PCB's edges. To avoid potential wire break from angular bend and stress, the ribbon cables are intertwined through PCB openings.

Even though D2split was created as an accessory for HDDD A2 v1.2, it is generally useful where a device lacking pass-through port or DB19 connector must be daisy chained along other drives. D2split easily extends the functionality of Apple Disk ][ drive, Disk IIc and various 3rd party Apple II compatible 5.25” slim floppy drives, which internally or externally have IDC20 connector with the standard Disk ][ drive pinout.
